Preliminary Results of Terazosin in the Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy

Abstract

the literature have suggested that alpha-receptor blockade may have therapeutic value in treating the symptoms of pateints with benign prostatic hypertrophy. Terazosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic blocking agent approved by the FDA for the treatment
of
benign prostatic hypertrophy. Preliminary results in 15 patents showed that terazosin significantly improved uroflow rates and symptom scores contrary to placebo group. It was concluded that terazosin is beneficial for treatment of obstruc5ive
symptoms
in patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy.
